You guys may not know this about me, but I love, love, love anything French! For years (let’s say about 20), I was always looking for interesting, worn out vintage French dough bowls and have a few pretty amazing ones that I keep out year round. Just recently, there has been a shift in my search and I am now always in search of amazing vintage French breadboards. Now, what I consider ahhh-maaaa-ziiiing are plain and worn out, and definitely not glamorous, but do they have character! I just absolutely adore them! Actually, I like all breadboards, even new ones, but there is just something about the old French ones that are particularly special. They are usually quite worn, with an amazing patina that comes from many years of use and handling. I love the warmth and texture they add to any space — wherever you display them; the kitchen, a mantle, or even as art.
However, once obsessed with these gems, I found out they are somewhat rare, and not so cheap! So, slowly but surely I’ve been looking and have found a few so far. I think mixing a few of the old with the new will give me that special touch that I’m looking for. So, for now, move over dough bowls, the breadboards are in the house!
